Chynna's Sensational Pearls: SENSORY AWARENESS MONTH - OCTOBER 2011

Well, it's that time of year again: Sensory Awareness Month--organized through the incredible Kathleen Morris at S.I. Focus Magazine (which, by the way, is a phenomenal resource for those living with SPD or wanting to learn more about it!) This is a month of education, giving information and celebrating the amazing people out there both living with SPD and sensory disorders as well as those doing research, working with our kids and advocating for our families.

Jaimie and Xander wouldn't be where they are today without the incredible people brought into our lives and I don't take that lightly. Not only have each of them learned how to cope in their worlds but we have learned about each of their issues and the best ways to help them. That's so empowering.

Last year we celebrated 30 'sensational' people in 30 days where we put professionals, therapists and every day people in the deserved spotlight for all they do for the SPD Community. This year, we're going to do book reviews, interviews and share some of our own experiences. I'm also going to share how SPD has touched the lives of each of my kiddos (siblings count, you know!) Finally, I'd really love to give one SIGNED copy of my book, "Not Just Spirited: A Mom's Sensational Journey With SPD" at the end of the month. Who knows? We may even have other goodies to put with it. ;D

So please be sure to drop by throughout the month of October to help celebrate the thousands of families around the world living with SPD and sensory disorders as well as to thank those advocating for us.
