MUSIC MANTRA Monday: Getting into Country With Johnny Reid (You Gave My Heart A Home)

Okay, I have to be honest here. I wasn't the hugest fan of country music. I know, I know--we cover alot of different kinds of music here on 'The Gift' and that probably isn't fair of me. Well, I don't dislike country music. I guess I just wasn't exposed to that genre of music as much as other forms of music. The closest we got to it was some of the stuff Elvis did (my mom really liked Elvis). There are a few artists I really like.

Garth Brooks is pretty awesome. I enjoy Reba MacIntyre. For me it's the style of country that appeals to me. I don't enjoy the twangy type of country as much as I enjoy the more rock style. Then a couple of years ago, I heard the sounds of an artist I thought was pretty great. And when I saw a documentary about him on television, and heard that gorgeous thick Scottish accent, my socks were knocked off.

He's also just the sweetest guy too. Very 'real', true to himself and his music and always willing to mix it up with his fans. He's very humble and so grateful for how far he's gotten. All of that and he's Canadian to boot! (Yeah...he still had me with the accent, though!)

I found out yesterday that he'll be touring some Canadian cities, including Edmonton! So, I'm thinking of checking out this amazing artist up close and personal. From the look of this video, I'm betting it will prove to be a great show!
