MUSIC MANTRA Monday - Meet 'The Peace Makers' (My kids' band)

We aren't even a week into summer vacation and my kids are already complaining about being bored, fighting and having crying fits. Of course, this happens with all kids but in our house it stems mostly from the sudden change in routine. I got tired of all the craziness, and had an article deadline for yesterday, so I had to ban them to the basement so I could get some work done. And they came up with a brilliant idea: They started a band.

They all love music and have played like this together before but it was just so sweet. They made their own band sign, created their own songs, wrote their song list out on the chalkboard and had rehearsals. What I loved the most is that every song was about peace, love and learning to get along. Aw! (Even if the song had no other lyrics other than, "Love, love....love, love, love...lotsa love...LOL!)

I just love when my kids get along like this and work as a team. And I adore that my love for music, and all things peace and love, have had such a deep impact on them. Who knows? Maybe once they have a few more songs under their belts and bit more practice, we can take it out on the road. ;)

This is proof how very important music is in our lives, especially for children. Start them early on and they'll have a lifelong love for it.
