The Sensational World According To Jaimie: My Interview With A John Lennon (Kevin Davey from FAB Fourever)

Well, it's been awhile since we've had Jaimie's segment. We've all had alot going on, but we're finally getting things back on track.

Jaimie has missed doing her posts and she is particularly excited for today's write up because she is sharing something very special and exciting that happened during our FAB FOUREVER adventure.

One of her biggest wishes since she was very tiny was to see John Lennon perform and to meet  him. Sadly I can't make that wish come true for her. What I can do, though, is expose her to his music (which I always have) and introduce her to those who love him as much as she does. Last year while I was interviewing all the guys from FAB FOUREVER, Jaimie got the brilliant idea to have a one-on-one chat with Kevin (who plays John in the group) as a way of giving a kid's perspective of how The Beatles still affect us today.

I was a bit worried how she'd do as she still struggles with the social side of things. But she did amazing, and Kevin was so awesome with her. Without further ado, here is Jaimie's very first celebrity interview.

This is Jaimie. Well, it was pretty exciting getting to see Fab Fourever! Not quite as exciting as when we went to Paul McCartney, but pretty close. We were the only ones to have a sign for them and we got to go backstage and even got to hold some guitars! THAT was cool! Jody let me try a real life John guitar! We even got to go up on the stage with some other kids and sing with them.

Me with Kevin's John guitar! WHOO!!
The best part was I got to interview the guy who is John. His name is Kevin and he's really, really cool. He even sounds just like the real John! I made all my own questions and made sure I knew them good so that I didn't mess up when I talked to him. He was super nice and funny and his answers rocked.

Here's our interview:

JAIMIE: When did you start getting interested in The Beatles?

KEVIN: I got interested in The Beatles the day John Lennon was shot, strangely. I woke up, I was only nine-years old, and heard the news on the radio. They were saying things like, "John Lennon has been assassinated!" then played his song 'Starting Over'. And I remember just being fascinated by that song, and thinking I had to find out everything I could on John. From that point on, I wanted to know everything about The Beatles.

JAIMIE: Cool! I am nine too. I liked them for, like, ever. What encouraged you to sing?

KEVIN: Well, my dad was in a band for a long, long time so I knew I wanted to be a singer since I was very, very young. I always knew I wanted to write songs and be a musician because my dad did it.

JAIMIE: Awesome. What was your favorite moment on stage?

Kevin with his band, Lauching Sweety
at The Cavern! (He's on the right.)
KEVIN: Hm. My favorite moment was playing on stage in Liverpool at The Cavern. So I was actually there! It was absolutely unbelievable.

JAIMIE: Whoa! WOW! Who is your favorite Beatle?

KEVIN: JOHN LENNON!

JAIMIE: ME TOO!

KEVIN: Haha! Absolutely.

JAIMIE: What's your favorite song to sing?

KEVIN: You know what? It changes from time-to-time. The last little while, I've really enjoyed doing 'A Day In The Life'. But, you know, I seem to like them all. They're all alot of fun to do.

JAIMIE: I like that one too. When did you start playing?

KEVIN: I guess I was about forteen-years old when I started to play guitar. So it's been quite awhile!

JAIMIE: Whoa! Where was your first concert?

KEVIN: My first show was at my high school in Sault St. Marie, Ontario. White Pines Collegiate and Vocational.

JAIMIE: Have you ever met any of the Beatles?

KEVIN: I've never met a Beatle. I've come close, though, by standing around watching them, but I've never actually met one. Other than these guys. That's close enough for me. I kinda like them.

JAIMIE: HAHA! Me too. That's all I have.

KEVIN: Well, this was very nice, Jaimie.

JAIMIE: Thank you. It was cool.

KEVIN: Thank YOU! Enjoy the show.

Being goofy with Fab Fourever after the show.
Thank you, Kevin, for letting me interview you.
You are super awesome and cool.

That's awesome! Great interview, Jaimie! I was fortunate enough to run into Paul McCartney once at a London train station. :)

Didn't she do GREAT? (I think she's trying to steal my job. LOL!)

OMGoodness! Did you say anything to him, Rena? We were close enough to the stage at our concert that Jordy got a thumbs up for her sign and I got an infamous Paulie wink (::swoon::).
